Not sure if any of you got to watch “You’re back in the room” on ITV1 Saturday night but please know that this is stage hypnosis and does not represent Hypnotherapy, if anything this puts many people off having hypnosis as there is a belief that you will not in be control of your treatment and that the therapist will have you doing thing you do not wish to do. This is not the case with Hypnotherapy as the client is in control at all times. Hypnotherapy is like daydreaming, you’re in a stage of relaxation while the therapist connects with your unconscious mind to help you through the issue your there to deal with. I always do a relaxation session but I start a client with treatments sessions as a way to demonstrate the control the client has on the hypnosis and it’s a great way to enjoy the amazing benefits of hypnosis. Stage hypnosis is about mind manipulation and suggestion, the participants have to want to let go and the hypnotist is able to provide the right suggestions to encourage the participants to do as they indicate. These people are always picked as they demonstrate a willingness to participate, are easily suggestive and the hypnotist knows they will comply with their suggestions.
As a qualified Hypnotherapist it would be unethical for me to do stage hypnosis and I would be struck off by the regulators.
